Speakings: International Motion Festival, Cyprus

Thanks to the 4th IMF at the European University in Nicosia for having me to speak about politics and pictures, and how the latter can intervene in the former to create opportunities for critical thinking in a post-truth world. To make this point I showed work from the Plume of Feathers project, and situated it within the context of recent political events in the UK (and the atmosphere of intolerance surrounding them)

I saw so many good films in the screenings alongside the conference, heard many papers that fuelled my brain, and met some generally splendid people. There were some fascinating overlaps around the theme of visual communication using facts/emotional claims/both to persuade us through means such as abstraction, alienation effects, and more.

And I got a nice red lanyard for my collection.
